Then Bhīmā entered a large, desolate and terrible forest. He saw a beautiful fig tree that offered extensive shade.
तब भीम एक बड़े, उजाड़ और भयानक जंगल में प्रवेश कर गये। उसने एक सुंदर अंजीर का पेड़ देखा जिसकी छाया बहुत अच्छी थी।
O bull among the Bhārata lineage! Placing them there, he said, "O lord! Rest here. I am going to bring water.
हे भरत वंश में बैल! उन्हें वहाँ रखकर उसने कहा, "हे प्रभु! यहीं विश्राम करें। मैं पानी लाने जा रहा हूँ।"
I hear the sweet voices of water-dwelling cranes. I am certain there must be a large lake here."
मुझे पानी में रहने वाले सारसों की मधुर आवाजें सुनाई देती हैं। मुझे यकीन है कि यहां एक बड़ी झील अवश्य होगी।"

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! उसके बड़े भाई ने उसे जाने की अनुमति दे दी और वह वहाँ चला गया जहाँ पानी में रहने वाले सारस थे।

हे भरत वंश में बैल! वहां उन्होंने पानी पिया और नहाया. हे राजा! वह अपने ऊपरी वस्त्र को भिगोकर पानी वापस लाया।

Swiftly retracing his steps, he went to his mother, who was two measures of distance away. On seeing his mother and brothers asleep on the ground, Vṛkodara was afflicted with great grief and lamented.
तेजी से अपने कदम पीछे खींचते हुए, वह अपनी माँ के पास गया, जो दो कदम की दूरी पर थी। अपनी माता और भाइयों को भूमि पर सोते हुए देखकर वृकोदर अत्यंत दुःख से पीड़ित हुए और विलाप करने लगे।

When there is only one tree with leaves and fruits in a village, it is without kin, becomes sacred and venerated and is worshipped.
जब किसी गाँव में पत्तियों और फलों वाला केवल एक ही पेड़ होता है, तो वह रिश्तेदार नहीं होता, पवित्र और पूजनीय हो जाता है और उसकी पूजा की जाती है।

They who have many relatives who are virtuous and brave live happily in this world, without disease.
जिनके बहुत से रिश्तेदार गुणी और शूरवीर होते हैं, वे इस संसार में बिना किसी बीमारी के सुखपूर्वक रहते हैं।
They make the sons of their friends and relatives powerful and prosperous, living on each other's support like trees in a garden.
वे अपने मित्रों तथा सम्बन्धियों के पुत्रों को बगीचे में वृक्षों की भाँति एक-दूसरे के सहारे रहकर शक्तिशाली एवं समृद्ध बनाते हैं।
We have been banished by the evil-souled Dhṛtarāṣṭra and his sons. We escaped the conflagration he had instructed.
हमें दुष्टात्मा धृतराष्ट्र और उनके पुत्रों ने देश निकाला दे दिया है। हम उस आग से बच निकले जिसका उन्होंने निर्देश दिया था।
Having escaped from that fire, we have now found refuge under this tree. Having suffered unequalled misfortunes, where will we go now?
उस आग से बचकर अब हमें इस पेड़ के नीचे शरण मिली है। अप्रतिम दुर्भाग्य झेलने के बाद अब हम कहां जाएंगे?
I think I see a city not far away from this forest. But someone should be awake while they are sleeping. Therefore, I will stay awake.
मुझे लगता है कि मुझे इस जंगल से कुछ ही दूरी पर एक शहर दिख रहा है। लेकिन कोई तो सोते हुए भी जागता रहे. इसलिए मैं जागता रहूंगा.
